Thailand Post is the embodiment of the Russian average person’s dream that in the post office one would like to see not a gloomy, busy woman, but smiling employees rejoicing at your arrival. To have comfortable chairs, and to keep track of your turn using the ticket you receive. In this article we will tell you how to send a parcel from Thailand to Russia , and we will also try to touch on many of the nuances associated with this procedure.

Visual signs of Thai mail
If you want to send Thai goods by mail, then you need to find a building on the street with a red banner and a large white lettering Thailand Post . If you don’t have time or don’t want to search, then ask the owners of your rented home or the Thais who are arming you about the location of the branch. The Google Maps service will also give you a hint - enlarge the geographical object (city, island) as much as possible and write Post Office in the search bar. You can even write, for example, Post Pattaya if you want to go from the home tab to the desired object instantly.
Schedule.
Thai Post has a uniform working schedule throughout the country. On weekdays, branches open at 8 a.m. and remain open until 5 p.m. On Saturday there is a short day - from 9 to 12, and on Sunday and on national holidays she has a day off.
Thailand Post
Before I start taking you through the ins and outs of sending parcels, I would like to tell you a little about Thailand Post.
The British gave the first impetus to the development of postal services in Thailand . In 1858, they first organized the shipment of goods from Siam . It was not until 1883 that the first post office was opened in Thailand near the Chaophraya , and the first postage stamp was issued at the same time. Already in 1885, on July 1, Thailand joined the Universal Postal Union and began to develop the postal sector.
In 2003, this institution was privatized and to this day remains in the hands of private managers. Apparently, this is why the speed and quality of work of local post offices are at a good level.
What I like here:
- Friendly staff, ready to help and advise.
- Good and fast service. During peak hours, 30 people can be served in 30 minutes or even less.
- If you get to the post office almost at closing time, they will never tell you “CLOSED!” and point to the door.
- Everything you need to send your parcel is sold here, and the stand where you can buy all this is not at the checkout where you send the parcel (although this can be done there too), but in a separate sector. This is very convenient because you don't have to stand in line and wait for 20 people to buy a box and then another 50 to ship it.
- Organization and modernity of post offices.
The business process of the branches is very simple. You come to the post office, take the number at the terminal, sit down and wait for it to appear on the display, while you wait, you can seal the parcel. As soon as you see your number on the board with the number of the counter you need to go to, go to it, give the parcel, pay and go home.
Terminal for issuing serial numbers
A board with a serial number and the counter at which it will be served
Here you can seal your parcel yourself
There are almost no queues, everything is fast and without unnecessary hassle
Services provided by Thailand Post
- Here you can send a parcel/card/letter;
- Make or receive a money transfer, such as Western Union;
- Open a mailbox in your name;
- And some other local services.
Opening times and days of post offices in Thailand
I won't talk about all regions, but in Pattaya they work 7 days a week! Yes, yes, all 7 days! The only thing is that on weekends the post office is open from 9:00 to 12:00 , on weekdays from 8:30 to 16:30 ! NO LUNCH!
Post office opening hours
Instead of the whole group going to lunch, workers are divided into groups and take turns going to their legal break, so the post office does not close.
I think the same is true in other parts of Thailand.
Below I will give the addresses of post offices in the most popular parts of the country.

We send a parcel to Russia
Sending a parcel from Thailand to Russia consists of the usual steps for us - you need to take care of the packaging and fill out the form.
Package
Boxes of different sizes are available directly at the post office. Feel free to communicate with employees using sign language. Point to the copy you like, and if what you want is not on the counter, you can say small or large and represent the size with your hands. The cost of packaging depends on the size. Minimum 9 baht, we have never seen more than fifty.
Price of boxes in baht
You can create a parcel either at home or at the post office. The only difference is that in the first case you will have to visit the branch twice. Adhesive tape for gluing corners and sealing the box is provided free of charge.
Important:
The parcel cannot be heavier than 20 kg. Excess, even in grams, is not allowed. In this case, the contents are divided into two shipments. It is best if they have different addresses. For example, one is yours, the other is your best friend. Then you will have fewer questions at Thai customs.
Filling out the form
The Thai postal box is similar to ours - it has fields for the address and name of the recipient. To be safe, duplicate the name of the country and city of destination in English. The rest of the information will be read by our postmen. Although, if you are fluent in English, write the entire address. And those who are very prudent can indicate the phone number of the recipient of the parcel.
Once you have the address, fill out the receipt form. In addition to the address, it contains the sender’s information and a description of the contents of the box.

Pricing of postal items in Thailand is based on the same criteria as in Russia. The deciding factor is the country of destination, followed by weight and then the desired delivery time. - Int'l Parcel-Surface.
Economy departure. A small parcel weighing up to 2 kg. It is charged as ground delivery, so it takes from 20 to 30 days, and if there are holidays during the trip, the arrival date is shifted. - Int'l EMS-Package.
Parcels weighing over five kilograms. Delivery by airmail and courier to the recipient's door. In our opinion, the most economical and fastest option. Delivery within 10-14 days unless there are holidays. - Int'l Parcel-Air.
Courier airmail. The method is expensive, but beneficial when sending a parcel weighing from 2 to 5 kilograms. It is better to send more weight by EMS, it will be cheaper. Delivery time is no more than a week. If you ship before the holidays, be prepared to wait longer.

Some customs restrictions
If a parcel from Thailand to Russia contains goods of the same name and there are more than five of them, then it may be recognized as a commercial shipment. They won’t “wrap” it, but you will have to go through the customs clearance process, for which you need to pay a fee. To speed up the delivery process in this case, you can contact specialized cargo companies.
Thai cosmetics are only allowed to be shipped from eligible stores. To do this, you just need to contact the seller for such a service, he will pack it for you and send it where you need it. They say that cosmetics cannot be sent to individuals, only to legal entities, supposedly because of some kind of insurance against spills.
