Seaport of Azov

In the city of Azov, one of the newest points for customs cargo clearance is located - “Azov Sea Port”. Until 2013, it was the Bataysky customs post, but due to its new location on the premises of the Azov Sea Port OJSC, it was given a new name and code.

The main activity is related to the implementation of export-import operations of goods that are transported along the Azov and Black Seas, and the rivers leaving them.

Due to its key location, the customs post is often overloaded. Employees of the Azov office, located in the city of Azov, and the Bataysk office help speed up customs clearance at this point.

The Ukrainian border in the Rostov region can be crossed as before

ROSTOV-ON-DON, March 2 – RIA Novosti, Yulia Nasulina. Only two of the 40 checkpoints in Ukraine bordering the territory of the Rostov region, from March 1, began to allow citizens to pass only with international passports; at the remaining checkpoints, the regime remained the same, a source in the region’s law enforcement agencies told RIA Novosti.

Since Sunday, Kyiv has introduced a ban on the entry of Russians into the territory of Ukraine using passports of citizens of the Russian Federation and birth certificates (for children under 14 years of age). From now on, Russians will be able to get there only on the basis of a foreign passport, diplomatic passport, service passport, or sailor’s passport. At the same time, it was also determined that Russian citizens who arrived in the territory of Ukraine before March 1 will leave on the basis of the documents with which they entered.

“Only at two of the forty checkpoints bordering the Rostov region, which are controlled by the State Border Service of Ukraine... the regime for allowing Russian citizens to enter Ukraine using international passports began to operate,” the interlocutor said. He clarified that the remaining checkpoints are not controlled by official Kiev and continue to operate under the control of the self-proclaimed Lugansk and Donetsk people's republics.

According to the official representative of the Russian FSB border department for the Rostov region, Vasily Malaev, work at checkpoints in the Rostov region is carried out as usual. “The passage of citizens of Russia and Ukraine across the state border, as before, is carried out in accordance with the agreement between the government of Russia and the government of Ukraine,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

He added that on the Ukrainian side there were only isolated cases when citizens were not allowed in with Russian passports and they were forced to return to the Russian Federation.

All checkpoints in the Rostov region on the border with Ukraine are operating normally

Due to the increasing flow of refugees, the authorities of the Ukrainian Republic are forced to open the Chervonopartizansk checkpoint for the unhindered passage of goods and people to the Russian side through the Gukovo checkpoint.

Currently, all 6 automobile checkpoints: “Veselo-Voznesenka” (Neklinovsky district), Matveev-Kurgan, Novoshakhtinsk, Gukovo, “Izvarino” (Donetsk), “Marinovka” (Kuibyshevo) on the Russian-Ukrainian border are operating normally.

“It is very important for us that all checkpoints are open for entry and exit, since due to the temporary closure of checkpoints in Gukovo and Novoshakhtinsk, the workload on customs and border control officers in Donetsk has sharply increased. We really hope that all checkpoints on the border with the neighboring state will not be closed in the future,” said Deputy Governor of the region Vadim Artemov.

OSCE observers working in the Rostov region, in their report for a week of work in the region, noted that the queue of cars and refugees from the Ukrainian side to the Donetsk checkpoint stretched for several kilometers.

The missionaries' report also states: “ Russian authorities provided significant assistance to the OSCE observer mission in establishing its base in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky and fulfilling its mandate to monitor the situation and movements at the two checkpoints of Gukovo and Donetsk. The organization is in constant contact with the border service and regional government agencies ."

Pass procedure

At the border, records are kept of foreign citizens entering and leaving the country. Foreign citizens are required to fill out immigration cards at the checkpoint. The immigration card must indicate passport details, purpose of visit and length of stay in the country.

The inspection of the car and belongings takes place in the presence of not only border guards, but also customs officers. They verbally ask what can be transported in cars and hand luggage, and whether there are goods prohibited for transportation.

The list of prohibited goods and items is quite long, but the main items are weapons, drugs and antiques. Animals, plants and many food products cannot be transported without special permits.
