The costs of delivering goods from Indonesia can be either very high or, conversely, very cheap. Here everything, first of all, depends on the transport with which it is produced. For example, sea shipping is one of the most economical methods, while aviation is associated with high financial costs.

An example of calculating customs duties from Indonesia

Let's look at a simple example of calculating customs duties for cargo from Indonesia. The recipient is a legal entity that imports CORT stringed musical instruments into the territory of the Russian Federation. The calculation is carried out within the framework of the IM-40 regime (Release for domestic consumption). The cost of the goods under the contract is 36,500 Euros, with logistics to the border, the customs value is 4,200 Euros, the final cost of the consignment is 40,700 Euros.

According to the HS code 9207 90 100 0, the duty rate is 10%, VAT 20%, and not subject to excise tax. You can view the data here.

Customs payments are calculated from the customs value according to the following formula:

Customs value (hereinafter referred to as CV) = the cost of the goods under the contract + the cost of transporting the goods to the border with Russia (transportation within Russia is not taken into account).

The Euro exchange rate on the date of filing the declaration is 79 rubles TC = 40,700 Euro * 79 = 3,215,300 rubles. Duty rate 10% = RUB 321,530. Imp. coefficient duties (with confirmation of occurrence) = 321,530 * 0.75 = 241,147.5 rub.

VAT = 20% of the vehicle + customs duty

VAT = (3,215,300 + 241,147.5) * 20 / 100 = 691,288.9 rub.

At customs, a fixed customs duty is paid, which has its own calculation formula:

TS of goodsCustoms duty amount
does not exceed 200 thousand rubles inclusive500 rubles
From 200,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more, but does not exceed 450,000 rubles inclusive1,000 rubles
From 450,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more, but does not exceed 1,200,000 rubles inclusive2,000 rubles
From 1,200,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more, but does not exceed 2,500,000 rubles inclusive5,500 rubles
From 2,500,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more, but does not exceed 5,000,000 rubles inclusive7,500 rubles
From 5,000,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more, but does not exceed 10,000,000 rubles inclusive20,000 rubles
From 10,000,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more30,000 rubles

Customs payments = VAT + Customs duties + Customs duties

Total payable = 691,288.9 (VAT) + 241,147.5 (Duty) + 7,500 (Fee) = 939,936.4 rubles

The given results of calculation of customs duties are for informational purposes only and are not final. The actual amount may differ depending on the country of origin, HS code, exchange rate and other economic and political factors.

Deadlines

The established period for filling out and submitting a declaration for Indonesian goods ranges from several hours to 2 working days and depends on the type of cargo, the number of items in the invoice and the number of EAEU HS codes.

The customs authority checks and releases the declaration within a few hours from the moment of its registration, if no changes are required to the declaration and all permits are provided. There are also other reasons for delay, which our company, having extensive experience, minimizes, thereby saving time and money for its clients.

Any deviation from the planned customs clearance period is fraught with downtime and additional costs for the foreign trade participant, which is why it is important to minimize all risks of increasing customs clearance time.

Container Shipping

Container transportation is convenient, reliable and safe. At least 70% of all goods are moved in this way in the world. They are also actively used in trade between Russia and the Indonesian islands.

The main advantages of container transportation:

  • convenience of loading and unloading operations;
  • no need to unload cargo upon arrival at an intermediate point;
  • increased safety from external influences;
  • reliable cargo securing.

The optimization of this type of cargo transportation is facilitated by a wide range and design of universal containers. They are represented by 20-, 40- and 45-foot containers, containers with increased capacity, refrigerators, tank containers, Open Top and Flat Rack.

Containers are the main type of container for transporting goods by waterways. Sea transportation of goods takes the longest, however, this method outperforms others due to its relatively low cost.

The main ports for sea transport from Indonesia to the Russian Federation are: Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, etc. Cargo is delivered to St. Petersburg and other ports on the Baltic or to Vladivostok. Subsequently, they are loaded onto ground transport and delivered to the recipient.
