Pulkovo-cargo
Pulkovo-cargo is the largest cargo terminal in the North-West of the Russian Federation, and one of the largest air cargo terminals in our country. The terminal provides a wide range of logistics and other services: ground handling of cargo and mail, warehouse and terminal services, agency services, customs clearance of air transportation.
The idea of building a new air cargo terminal was born in 1997, when most airlines that operated in Pulkovo noted the lack of modern systems for handling cargo and sufficient quality of service at the airport. At that time, the Pulkovo aviation enterprise included a service for organizing postal and cargo transportation (SOPGP). In order to provide the required list of services related to ground cargo handling, there was an urgent need to build a new cargo and aviation terminal that would meet all international requirements and standards.
The idea was implemented by a subsidiary of the German concern GlobeGround Gmbh (forty percent of shares), Unitary Aviation Enterprise Pulkovo (also forty percent of shares) and JSC ZT LenStroyZhilServis (respectively twenty percent of shares).
The Pulkovo Cargo cargo terminal began operating on March 4, 2002, and already during the first year of operation, seventeen thousand tons of cargo were handled through it.
An area of almost five hectares between the Pulkovo-1 and Pulkovo-2 buildings was built up and turned into the most powerful Pulkovo-Cargo cargo terminal. It occupies twelve thousand square meters of production area. Of these, approximately equal amounts are warehouse (operating room) and office premises - 6 thousand square meters each.
The first stage of the terminal complex is currently in use. It is equipped to handle thirty thousand tons of cargo per year. According to the project, the terminal should increase cargo turnover due to the second and third phases. The plan provides that the constructed, new parts of the terminal will handle about 30-35 thousand tons per year, and as a result, the Pulkovo Cargo Terminal will be able to reach the figure of 100 thousand tons of cargo per year every year.
Now the Cargo Terminal at Pulkovo Airport is actively operating around the clock and all year round. There, ground processing of air cargo is carried out (including those that require special processing conditions). It has specialized warehouses for ordinary and special. cargo, here air cargo transportation is booked and sold for regular air transport flights from the St. Petersburg airfield. In addition, the cargo terminal carries out urgent customs clearance of export-import cargo.
The cargo terminal of Pulkovo Airport operates based on regulations adopted by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). Contracts for cooperation with aviation companies are signed on the basis of IATA (International Transport Aviation Organization) standards, these are, first of all, SGHA (Standard Ground Handling Agreements), as well as on the basis of the Air Code of the Russian Federation, RGP (Cargo Transport Guidelines), Federal aviation regulations, Orders of the Ministry of Transport.
The highly qualified staff of Pulkovo Cargo guarantees excellent quality of service. The cargo terminal staff has special prof. training, which is confirmed by all the necessary domestic and international certificates in the field of airport activities.
The Airport Civil Aviation Association, in 2007, accepted the cargo terminal of Pulkovo Airport as an honorary member. In the same year, it received the nomination “Best Customs Terminal of Russia” from the Federal Customs Service, based on the results of the regular “Customs Olympus” competition.
