Sunflower oil is a type of vegetable oil that is made from sunflower seeds. There are refined and unrefined types of sunflower oil: refined oils go through several stages of purification (filtration, clarification, hydration, adsorption), unrefined oils - only through purification from mechanical impurities (suspensions).

Sunflower oil is classified according to its production method:

• oil obtained by pressing (cold or hot);
• extracted oil.

In addition, sunflower oils can differ in the presence of herbal additives and flavorings.

Declaration of conformity of the EAEU for sunflower oil

Like other vegetable oils, sunflower oil is subject to mandatory declaration of conformity to the EAEU. The declaration is issued on the basis of the product’s compliance with the requirements of the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union TR CU 024/2011 “Technical Regulations for Fat and Oil Products”.

You can receive a declaration using one of the following schemes:

• 1D – for the production of sunflower oil (products are checked for compliance by the applicant);
• 2D – for the supply of a batch of products (the applicant is responsible for compliance testing);
• 3D – for production (tests are carried out by an accredited organization);
• 4D – for the supply of a batch (tests are carried out by an accredited organization).

Declaration stages and documents:

• submitting an application (copies of the applicant’s constituent documents, test reports - if any - certificates, technical specifications and other regulatory documents governing production for 1D and 3D schemes, contract/invoice for 2D and 4D schemes will be required);
• conducting product tests (for 3D and 4D schemes) or studying test reports (for 1D and 2D schemes);
• production verification - for scheme 1D.

This oil is obtained from the common sunflower (Helianthus annuus) and is light golden yellow in color. It is used as salad oil, in margarine and as a lard substitute. The oil has semi-drying properties, which is highly valued in the paint and varnish industry.

B) SAFLOR OIL

The seeds of safflower (Carthamus tinctoris), which is a very important coloring plant, yield a drying edible oil. It is used in cooking and medicine, and is used to make alkyd resins, varnishes and paints.

It is the most valuable of the semi-drying oils. It is obtained from the seeds of some species of the genus Gossypium. Cottonseed oil is widely used for industrial purposes, such as leather dressing, soap, lubricants, glycerin and water repellents, and as a base for cosmetic creams. Pure refined oil is valued as a salad or cooking oil and for use in the production of margarine and lard substitutes.
