With the advent of electronic declaration centers in the country, life for participants in foreign economic activity has become significantly easier. New technologies have freed customs control from paperwork, bureaucratic red tape and corruption. Lenta.ru talks about how this works, using the example of one of the regions.
In October, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) celebrated its 25th anniversary. Over the course of a quarter of a century, the department has done a tremendous amount of work to introduce information technology. Thus, it was almost completely possible to digitize customs declarations - now all documents are processed via the Internet. But just a few years ago, electronic declaration seemed something unusual.
The introduction of automatic registration of declarations and their automatic release made it possible to create electronic declaration centers (EDC). Today there are already 29 of them throughout the country - in every federal district. CEDs separate documentary control of declarations of goods (DT) and actual customs control. The center processes documents and information declared in the electronic declaration, and actual control is carried out at the customs office where they are posted.
