An example of calculating customs duties from Iran
Let's look at a simple example of calculating customs duties on cargo from Iran. The recipient is a legal entity that imports capsicum into the territory of the Russian Federation. The calculation is carried out within the framework of the IM-40 regime (Release for domestic consumption). The cost of the goods under the contract is 10,500 Euros, with logistics to the border, the customs value is 2,500 Euros, the final cost of the shipment is 13,000 Euros.
According to the HS code 0709 60 100 2, the duty rate is 5%, VAT 20%, and not subject to excise tax. You can view the data here.
Customs payments are calculated from the customs value according to the following formula:
Customs value (hereinafter referred to as CV) = the cost of the goods under the contract + the cost of transporting the goods to the border with Russia (transportation within Russia is not taken into account).
The Euro exchange rate on the date of filing the declaration is 70.5 rubles TC = 13,000 Euros * 70.5 = 916,500 rubles. Duty rate 5% = RUB 45,825. Imp. coefficient duties (with confirmation of occurrence) = 45,825 * 0.75 = 34,368.75 rub.
VAT = 20% of the vehicle + customs duty
VAT = (916,500 + 34,368.75) * 20 / 100 = 190,173.75 rub.
At customs, a fixed customs duty is paid, which has its own calculation formula:
TS of goods | Customs duty amount |
does not exceed 200 thousand rubles inclusive | 500 rubles |
From 200,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more, but does not exceed 450,000 rubles inclusive | 1,000 rubles |
From 450,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more, but does not exceed 1,200,000 rubles inclusive | 2,000 rubles |
From 1,200,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more, but does not exceed 2,500,000 rubles inclusive | 5,500 rubles |
From 2,500,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more, but does not exceed 5,000,000 rubles inclusive | 7,500 rubles |
From 5,000,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more, but does not exceed 10,000,000 rubles inclusive | 20,000 rubles |
From 10,000,000 rubles 1 kopeck or more | 30,000 rubles |
Customs payments = VAT + Customs duties + Customs duties
Total payable = 190,173.75 (VAT) + 34,368.75 (Duty) + 2000 (Fee) = 226,542.5 rubles

Khatamkari
A wood inlay technique that is not similar to similar productions in Syria, Iraq or India. To make mosaics, several expensive types of wood, silver and gold threads, mother-of-pearl and bone are required. Each material is sawn into thin strips and then driven through a special machine, which gives them the shape of an isosceles triangle. They are stacked in groups of five, eight and ten, forming complex arabesques and ornaments. The work is extremely painstaking. By the way, Iranians inlay absolutely everything: boxes and chests, vases and trays, picture frames, furniture, windows and doors. Actually, in every hotel there is a box for napkins using the khatamkari technique in the room or at the reception.
Deadlines
The established period for filling out and submitting a declaration for Iranian goods ranges from several hours to 2 working days and depends on the type of cargo, the number of items in the invoice and the number of EAEU HS codes.
The customs authority checks and releases the declaration within a few hours from the moment of its registration, if no changes are required to the declaration and all permits are provided. There are also other reasons for delay, which our company, having extensive experience, minimizes, thereby saving time and money for its clients.
Any deviation from the planned customs clearance period is fraught with downtime and additional costs for the foreign trade participant, which is why it is important to minimize all risks of increasing customs clearance time.
How to use the sea transportation section to find sea forwarders for cargo delivery
Each cargo owner has a personal account in which you, as a customer in the “Sea Transportation” in the “Add Cargo” , manage your requests, place new ones, showing everyone that you have cargo that needs to be delivered. Add multiple requests. Update them and raise them in the list of other requests in “My Cargoes” to show all your cargoes to all performers. If these actions are performed regularly, carriers and forwarders will always contact exactly the maritime transportation customer whose application will be new, first, and at the top of the list of other applications.
12/15/2021 in the list of requests from contractors for sea transportation, there are 979 current proposals.

Meenakari
Lovers of handmade dishes will not be able to leave Isfahan without at least a tiny plate made using the minakari technique. This is a special type of painting when enamel is applied to a metal base and then hand-painted with the finest patterns. At one time, I fell in love with Turkish and Moroccan plates, fascinated by their patterns. But next to the Iranian minakari, they are like the handicraft of a one-year-old child next to a Faberge masterpiece. The painting is so delicate and elegant, so neat, that it is difficult to imagine how it can all be done by hand. This is truly a piece of jewelry. You can buy a mine at any bazaar in any city in Iran, but they make it in Isfahan. Here the craftsmen are more skillful and the choice is much richer.

Foreign trade with Iran
In 2021, there was a decline in economic relations between Russia and Iran. Trade turnover decreased by 8.73% compared to 2021 and amounted to 1.5 billion US dollars. The trade balance was positive at the level of 806 million.
Exports decreased insignificantly, by only 0.85%. The main volume of supplies fell on food products - 80.37%. Next: cars and transport, wood and chemical products. The total amount of exports amounted to 1.1 billion US dollars.
The structure of imports showed a decrease in volumes by more than a quarter. Iranian products, chemicals, metals, etc. are also in demand on the Russian market. The amount of imported products imported into the Russian Federation in 2019 amounted to $391 million.
Iran is partner number 59 for Russia. Over the year, this state lost 9 positions in the ranking.
Who will be the next challenger?
While Ian Nepomniachtchi and Magnus Carlsen are preparing for the world championship match in Dubai, which starts on November 24, the selection of a chess player who will try to take the title from either the Norwegian or the Russian in the next championship match is in full swing.
The majority of participants in the next Candidates Tournament have already been determined. It will feature: a chess player who will lose in Dubai, World Cup winners Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland) and Sergey Karyakin (Russia), Teymur Radjabov (Azerbaijan), who did not play in the candidates tournament in Yekaterinburg due to the situation with Covid, as well as Alireza Firoudja (France) and Fabiano Caruana (USA) distinguished themselves in the mass qualifying Grand Swiss in Riga. Two more participants in the eight candidates will be determined in the FIDE Grand Prix, which Berlin will host in the spring of 2022.
Russians Grigory Oparin and Alexander Predke advanced from the Big Swiss to the Grand Prix. Surely, according to the rating, Alexander Grischuk, No. 8 of the world ranking table, should qualify. There is also hope that FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich will nominate one of the young stars of Russian chess for the tournament - so the fight for another ticket to the candidate competition for Russian grandmasters continues.
